Richard Nixon's early political career media and press relations subseries contains clippings, correspondence, memorandums, press releases, transcripts, press kits, notes, reports, audiotapes, motion pictures, cartoons, and caricatures, 1958-1961, collected, created and used by Herbert G. Klein, and to document Nixon's relationship with the popular media (newspapers, magazines, and television) primarily during the 1960 presidential campaing. Included are reports on press coverage and biases; information on the televised Nixon-Kennedy debate and transcripts of that debate; national and local newspaper staff and circulation information; correspondence, clippings and speeches relating to Nixon and African-American relations; notes and memorandums regarding the planning and press coverage of Nixon's trip to the Soviet Union; texts of speeches made in the Soviet Union and Poland; poll results; transcripts of various Nixon speeches and remarks; and logistical information for journalists traveling with the campaign.
