Biographical statement

Allen A. Arthur was born in Kansas in January 24, 1920, as Allan A. Divilbiss. He attended the University of Southern California, using the name Allen A. Arthur, where he was a member of Trovets (a student veterans group), president of Alpha Psi Omega, an editor of the student handbook and of Wampus humor magazine, and a presidential candidate for the student senate in 1951. He graduated in June 1952 with a Bachelor of Science in Commerce and went on to found Allen A. Arthur Plus Associates, a public relations firm. He was active in USC General Alumni Association and later a founder of the Trojan Caravan. He was also an occasional contributor to the Los Angeles Times on various subjects including wines. He was a resident of the greater Los Angeles area and at the time these photographs were taken, a resident of San Francisco. He moved to Champaign, Illinois, where he died on December 5, 1999. Arthur is buried in Tisdale Cemetery in Cowley County, Kansas.
