Abstract USC's Black Alumni Association was begun in 1976 by Dr. Thomas Kilgore, although in its early years it was known as the Ebonics Support Group. In addition to having a voice for the Black community at USC, the original mission of Ebonics was to give merit scholarships, based on need, to minority students--Black as well as Latino and Asian-American--since no alumni groups existed for those communities. Abstract

This small collection holds the correspondence, address lists, and questionnaires of USC alumnae, collected in 1947 and 1948 for the USC Alumni Magazine. Information on the USC alumnnae goes back to 1924. The questionnaires cover topics such as name, address, spouse and children, fraternities or sororities, current profession, honors awarded, hobbies, etc. Folders are arranged chronologically.

USC embroidered graduation banner

Abstract

A wearable banner with embroidered text and an image of a young woman in academic regalia. The embroidered figure is waving a USC flag with surrounding cardinal red text: "Here's to the college whose colors we wear." The banner has two straps attached made from braided red fabric, presumably for the graduate to wear the banner on their back. The banner's creator and exact creation date is unknown, but the donor supplied an approximate date of 1910s.

Abstract

One ledger book used as a scrapbook to document USC football and the career of coach Howard Jones, 1905-1940. The ledger's entries are entirely obscured by pasted in clippings and pages from programs and similar publications. The scrapbook is entitled "Interesting events of [H]oward Jones, data [per]taining to Foot-ball".
