The Robert Lewis family papers comprise a multigenerational archive of a family of Black military servicemen who served in World War I, World War II, and the Korean War. The Library School of the Los Angeles Public Library was established in 1891 as a training class of the Los Angeles Public Library; from 1914 to 1934 it was conducted as a library school with a full curriculum involving between ten and fifteen courses plus field work.
