Abstract

A collection of advertising fliers, brochures, booklets and catalogs for household appliances and products, all aimed specifically at women, dating from the 1860s to the 1930s. The collection includes trade catalogs for heating sources, stoves, porcelain sinks, vacuums, "wear-ever" cookware, carpet sweepers, irons, wringers, and "ready to eat" food products; fliers for labor-saving laundry soap, and a dryer that dries without a wringer; a commercial laundry price list; and brochures.

Abstract

The Zachary Davis collection of West Coast punk ephemera consists of concert fliers and tickets, political pamphlets, promotional material for punk music-related merchandise, drawings, and zines documenting the punk subculture on the West Coast (mostly California) of the United States during the 1990s and 2000s. Zachary Davis, a member of the scene in the late 1990s and 2000s, collected the material and also created a small number of items in the collection.

The collection consists of copies of the Manzanar Free Press, the Information Bulletin published by the Japanese-American Relations Committee of the American Friends Service Committee, and various pamphlets and fliers published and/or distributed by the War Relocation Authority and various private social service agencies. The bulk of the material is sympathetic to the plight of the interned Japanese and their eventual return (resettlement) to their homes.
