Series Scope and Content Summary From the Series: Rudi Gernreich (1922-1985), Pucciani's long-time lover, was born in Vienna, and fled Austria at age 16, settling in Los Angeles. His first career was as a dancer; he later became a fabric designer, before moving into fashion design. He was known for pushing the boundaries of the "futuristic look" in clothing in the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s, and is most notorious for inventing the first topless women's swimsuit.
