Scope and Contents

This collection contains photographs and personal correspondence of Jill Mendelsohn. Included are photographs of the 1974 San Diego Women's Music Festival, a 1975 Meg Christian performance, and a brief meeting with Rita Mae Brown. This collection also contains photographs taken by Mendelsohn and her partner Karen documenting lesbian feminist poet Elsa Gidlow in her garden, a newspaper article about Gidlow, and personal correspondence to Mendelsohn and Karen from Gidlow.

Abstract

Photographs and Elsa Gidlow's correspondence and writings, bulk 1973-1986, collected by Jill Mendelsohn. Included are photographs of Gidlow, as well as lesbian writer Rita Mae Brown, lesbian musicians Meg Christian and Margie Adams, and the San Diego Women's Music Festival in 1974.
