Biography
George Raya graduated from Sacramento State University where he was a founding member of the Society for Homosexual Freedom. While in law school at the University of California, Berkeley, he was active in student and local politics and championed a Berkeley ordinance to prohibit discrimination in employment. He worked as a liaison for the Society for Individual Rights (SIR) to the California State Legislature and lobbied for such gay causes as the consensual sex (AB 489) and employment discrimination (AB 633) bills. He was a member of the National Gay Task Force meeting at the White House in 1977.
