Biography
Manuel boyFrank was born on May 21, 1900, and raised in Oklahoma. Official records list him as Manuel Boyfrank, ONE Incorporated records list him as Monwell Boyfrank, and occasional correspondence has him using Manuel Boy Frank or Manuel boy Frank; however, he most commonly signed his correspondence as Manuel boyFrank. boyFrank served overseas in World War I, then remained enlisted in the armed forces with stints in the Army, Navy, and Coast Guard until retiring, line-of-duty-disabled, in 1940. boyFrank went to New York in 1930 where he met gay activist pioneers Henry Gerber and Frank McCourt, but upon his retirement in 1940, he moved to Southern California where he remained until the final years of his life. He held various jobs in Southern California before joining the Los Angeles Civil Service, from which he retired in 1965. boyFrank became a Vice President on the board of ONE Incorporated in 1964 and remained an officer until 1968. boyFrank died January 13, 1982.
