Founded in Florida in 1956--then based in Los Angeles in the 1960s and early 1970s--the Prosperos espoused (principally through the writings of co-founder Walker) a program of transformative spiritual education that combined mysticism, psychology, astrology, as well as an openness to homosexuality, bisexuality and androgyny. Some items in the collection, including a 200-page volume of collected course materials, are annotated in order to highlight references to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender subject matter.
