Scope and Contents

Collection consists of research files related to the lives of European Jewish Émigrés to Los Angeles compiled by USC librarian John Ahouse. Materials include clippings, photographs, illustrations, and correspondence. Pamphlets and other materials from the L.A. European Jewish Émigrés of the 1930s and 1940s exhibit and the Skirball Cultural Center 2005 exhibit pamphlet are also present. The German Exiles in Los Angeles Guided Tour Map of houses of notable émigrés including those of Bertolt Brecht, Heinrich Mann, Salka and Berthold Viertel, Thomas Mann, Aldous Huxley and Emil Ludwig, Hanns Eisler, Vicki Baum, and Lion and Marta Feuchtwanger.
