Descriptive Summary

The Wonderland Award Submissions Collection is comprised of hundreds of student entries for the annual contest related to Lewis Carroll. The award was established in 2004 with the sponsorship of Linda Cassady. The primary purpose of the Award is to promote and encourage the use of the G. Edward Cassady, M.D. and Margaret Elizabeth Cassady, R.N. Lewis Carroll Collection, held in Doheny Library at USC.

Arrangement

The collection is arranged chronologically beginning with the 2005 competition.

Other Finding Aids

A separate finding aid exists for the archival materials in the G. Edward Cassady, M.D. and Margaret Elizabeth Cassady, R.N. Lewis Carroll Collection of Ephemera. The link to it on the USC Libraries website can be found here:

Acquisition

Since the beginning of the award contest in 2005, all award submissions became part of the G. Edward Cassady, M.D. and Margaret Elizabeth Cassady, R.N. Lewis Carroll Collection of the USC Libraries. To avoid confusion with the Lewis Carroll collection bequeathed to USC by George Cassady, the Wonderland Award projects were removed from that collection and assigned their own separate collection title and number. Each year, the contest submissions are added to this collection following the award ceremony in the spring.

Related Archival Materials

Related archival materials exist in the G. Edward Cassady, M.D. and Margaret Elizabeth Cassady, R.N. Lewis Carroll Collection, which also contains more than 3000 rare books, early pamphlets, letters, and other items related to the work of Lewis Carroll. Most of these items have been catalogued individually through USC Libraries library catalogue; some of the ephemera and more recent articles and clippings are included in the archival materials and are described in a separate finding aid. (See Other Finding Aids note).
