  • Abstract

Records of the California division of APGA, ca. 1955-71; membership files, newsletters. In 1952, the American College Personnel Association joined with three other all-volunteer organizations to form the American Personnel and Guidance Association (APGA), devoted to the education and holistic development of students in higher education. It provides programs, services, and other educational professional development opportunities for student affairs professionals to enhance the quality of the learning environment on college and university campuses. From 1952 to 1992, ACPA continued its affiliation with APGA. During that 40 year period, APGA became known as AACD (the American Association for Counseling and Development); and ACPA continued its focus on the holistic education and development of college and university students.
